12 Big Drumsticks

1 Small Coconut

2 Tea spoons Garam Masala

½ cup coarsely powdered ground nuts

2 Tea cups Sugarcane Juice

or jagerry to taste if sugarcane juice is not available

4 Teaspoon Oil

2 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds

Pulp of Tamarind to taste

½ cup Cashew nut pieces

Salt to taste

Fresh coriander for garnishing.


Wash the drumsticks and cut into 2 pieces.

Extract coconut milk from coconut or grind it fine.Heat water in a vessel and splutter the mustard seeds.Add drumsticks and cook them till tender in water.Add the coconut milk or ground coconut,tamarind pulp,garam masala,coarsely powdered groundnut,cashew nut pieces,sugarcane juice or jaggery to taste,salt and chilly powder to taste and boil for 3 minutes.Serve garnished with fresh coriander.



4 cups rice

1 Kg Ridged Gourd

6 Green Chillies

2" ilng Ginger pieces 2 in number

4 Teaspoons Coriander powder

2 Teaspoons Cumin seed powder

2 Teacups Buttermilk

1 cup freshly scraped coconut

Half Bunch of Green Coriander

1 Teacup Oil or Ghee

2 Teaspoons Mustard Seeds

Salt to taste.


Roast the rice and soak it in hot water for 4 hours.Drain the water.Remove the ridges from the gourd and scrape the gourd fine with scraper.Cut the green chillies into big pieces and scrape ginger pieces fine.Heat the oil in a vessel big enough to make for pulao.Splutter the mustard seeds.Add green chillies,ginger and gourd.Stir for 3 minutes.Add rice and stir well for 5 minutes.Add salt to taste alongwith coriander powder and cumin seed powder.Stir well.Cover the rice for 5 minutes and keep the gas fire at its lowest.Later sprinkle the butter over the rice milk,cover till cooked.Serve hot,garnished with coconut and coriander.This pulao is very tasty,has totally different flavour and has natural green colour of the gourd.
