The Rendez-Vous of Déjà vu (La Fille du 14 juillet) by Antonin Peretjatko (2013) 1h28

Free for members of Alliance Française Panjim. Donations accepted for non members. Free pop corn!

Summary: Since Hector encountered Truquette at the Louvre on July 14, he's had only one thing in mind: to seduce this girl who he's mad about. The best way to do so is to take her to the seaside. His pal Pator agrees wholeheartedly, particularly if she comes along with her friend Charlotte... Accompanied by unavoidable Bertier, off they go, down France's back roads, where there is no money in the banks. That's normal, because there's an economic crisis on. France has to get back to work and so, right in the middle of summer, the government decides to cut short the national vacation period by a month. A complete shake-up and a few wads of cash later, the group breaks up like France cut in two, between jealous July-ites and August-ians. But going against the work flow doesn't frighten the remaining trio, well and truly determined to find the July 14 Girl and to enjoy a wild summer.

Exhibition "Surfaces et profondeurs" BY
ANUPAMA RAJU and PASCAL BERNARD

Hosted by Alliance Française Panjim

AN ARTISTIC EXPLORATION FROM LA ROCHELLE THROUGH PICTURES AND POEMS.

WHAT: The Interworlds Centre and the Alliance Française of Pondichéry instigated the very fine collaboration between the two artists Anupana Raju and Pascal Bernard in July 2011. Both of them did an artist residency in Pondichéry : Anupana was working on her writing and Pascal was working on his photography. They created the project: " Pondichéry: a city, a place, a person ". This was the beginning of a real artistic exchange. The benefits of their work resulted in several exhibitions in France and in India. In May 2012, thanks to ICCR ( India) and to the Interworlds Centre of La Rochelle, Anupama Raju was invited to do an artist residency in La Rochelle to meet again Pascal Bernard. They shared their knowledge and their sensibility which led them to a new artistic performance "Surfaces and Depths".

WHEN: Exhibition from July 11th to July 20th 2014
during the Alliance Française opening hours:
Monday to Friday 9.30 am-1pm and 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm

Opening July 11th at 6.30 pm onwards. This will also be the occasion to celebrate French national day (July 14th) with Vallonne wine and French finger food with live music Trio Orlando!

WHERE:  Alliance Française Panjim, Altinho Near Menezes Polyclinic Tel: 0832 24 20049

WHO:
Anapuma Raju
was born in Chennai (India) into a family of musicians. Immersed in the world of music from a very early age, Anupama becomes a singer. But she nurtures herself in poetry.
She begins seriously her writing in 2002. Since then, her work has been published in diverse publications, magazines and literary journals. Anupama received an award for her poetry in the competitions managed by British Council-Unisun (2006) and by Prakriti Foundation (2008).
As a journalist, Anupama writes on literature and on the writers for the very renowned newspaper The Hindu. She also works as a translater and she likes translating short stories from Malayalam into English.
Her first book "Nine" - a collection of her poems - will be published by Daastaan Books.

Pascal Bernard
Pascal Bernard was born in the French city Sables d'Olonne in 1960. At the age of 12 years old, his parents offered him his first camera. Little by little, the magic of the photography got him and quickly, he built himself his first photo lab, at first in the bathroom, then at the backyard of the family garden, and then he had a room exclusively dedicated to the photography. In 1977, he made his first trip to Asia by road. He crossed the Middle East to end up in India. A series of travels in Asia began then (Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore) with numerous collaborations with different magazines. In the 1990s, he settled down in Paris where he worked alternately for reportage photography and advertising. In 1996, his road crossed La Rochelle where he decided to stop. He did various exhibitions (the IFAD of Nîmes, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Seville, Barcelona, Milan). But his mind keeps thinking about India where he goes every times he gets the occasion and he did so several times - he went to Rajasthan and to Shimla in 2004, to Ladakh and to Omkareswar in 2006, to Hampi in 2008, Vârânasî in 2009, and in South India in 2010... And last but not least, Pondicherry during his artist residency in Summer 2011 and 2012.

Mango Tree after school Arts programme

About the course

Mango Tree was started in 2009, and this is the 6th year of its operation. At The Mango Tree School at Sunaparanta, kids learn what it means to be an artist! Our engaging curriculum teaches our students about artists and art techniques and challenges our students to try new things and to express their ideas through art making. Our approach teaches kids the skills and the concepts they need as they grow into confident and expressive artists and individuals. Your child learns MORE every year at Mango Tree. We teach a ‘spiral curriculum' which means that every year our students learn techniques and concepts in a variety of art media. Each year we do NEW PROJECTS but revisit previously introduced art forms and the students learn additional techniques and concepts about how to work with that art form. This means each year you child makes new art pieces and learns new skills that build on their past learning. Every year, each of our age groups works on a variety of projects across art media, including: drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, sculpture, and performance art. Students learn to use these art forms to explore and visually express their own ideas about the world. Techniques and mediums are introduced, but the focus is on creative projects using the mediums learnt.
